New Air Ambulance Charity Event A Success
Second fantastic evening for worthwhile charity
EAST ANGLIAN AIR AMBULANCE CHARITY NIGHT
KESGRAVE SOCIAL CLUB MARCH 27th 2010
Once again, there was a full house in support of The East Anglian Air Ambulance. Many, many thanks to all the people that attended the event and made the night the success it was.
The evening got off to a great start with Cool Remedy playing a first class set and were very well received, playing their unique mixture of rock and country.
This was followed by one of our old favourites, Jock Davies who has now partnered with Sue Double, forming the new duo, JaS. It was not long before they had the dance floor full with Sue’s vocals providing a fantastic blend of ‘rock and soul.’ As always, Jock’s wit and sense of humour had everyone in stitches with laughter.
The MC for the evening was again ‘The Foz’. A.K.A Stephen Foster of BBC Radio Suffolk, he was on hand to introduce the bands, keep the evening flowing and to give away the fabulous prizes that had been donated by local companies. A special thank you must go to Foz for all his hard work before and during the event.
Companies that were kind enough to donate the prizes include - Mercedes Lancaster’s, Jack Whites, PMT Music, Hank and Salmon, Aspects, John Russell Gallery, Ipswich Town Football Club, Tower Flowers, and The Ipswich Air Ambulance Office. A very big thank you to them all for their contributions, without them there is no raffle!!!
The night was brought to a close once more by one of the most popular live bands of this area, The Martells.
A different line-up to last year but this made no difference to the quality of sound they provided. From the very first number, Summer of ’69 they had their audience and the dance floor was full. Their stylish look and obvious talent had the dance floor heaving throughout their whole set.
The new vocalist Peter ‘Wolfeman’ Wolfe’ did his band members proud. The new bass player/vocalist John ‘The Voice’ Wright is a whizz on the bass and provided some superb harmonies, Sandy ‘The Hitman’ Sutherland lived up to his reputation of being one of the best drummers in these parts and as usual Gary ‘Guitar’ Nunn inspired us all with his superb guitar playing. Many thanks must go to Peter , Sandy , Gary and John for their dedication to this charity and headlining the event. The evening was a fantastic one and everyone went away looking forward to next year.
Sincere gratitude goes to Kesgrave Social Club, Cool Remedy, JaS, The Martells and Stephen Foster all of whom gave up their time and provided their services all completely free of charge.
